How To Choose an Email solution

A lot of people opt for an ISP email (an email address you get from your internet service provider, i.e. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). This may be a solution for a personal email but surely not for business use. The first and most obvious weakness of this option is that you lose your account if you decide to change the provider. Most providers would also limit the storage space you can have and the size of the attachments you can send. The last but not the least is the fact that using an email address like This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it you would be advertising your provider's name instead of your company’s name.

Another option would be using a free service, i.e Gmail.com, Yahoo.com.au. In this case you are not dependent on your internet provider, can access your email anywhere anytime. The problem is that your email address still wouldn’t look professional; storage and attachments sizes may still not be adequate and your service provider may have annoying ads popping up on your email page.

You may go further and start using Google Business Solutions. This is probably one of the best free options available that gives you decent storage space, your company branding and a number of useful additional applications to manage your documents, calendar etc. All applications are being constantly updated by Google so you always have access to the latest technology. An important part is that you would need to have a domain name (i.e. yourcompany.com.au) registered to use this option. You can also choose to pay a small fee to have more disk space.

Finally, if you have a domain and hosting, the best option would be simply to use your domain name. This option would give you full control of your emails - you decide how much storage space you need; it also promotes your company name. In some cases this option can be expensive though and if you don't have a website it is unlikely you would register a domain name and keep hosting just for emails.
